ENVIRONMENT

It is said that nature maintains its balance. This is very true and it is necessary for us to live in harmony with nature. When our activities push nature out of balance the results can be very disastrous. It can results in disease outbreaks, fires, floods, droughts, famines, hurricanes, invasion of pests and exceptionally hot and cold weather. These can cause great loss of lives and suffering among the people..  There are also long term consequences as we are seeing with the effect of global warming and the erosion of the ozone layer and our beaches right across the island.
The environment will be given top priority attention by a JAP government and laws to strengthen  the power of the monitoring agencies such as NEPA and the NRCD will be enacted. We will also work closely with the NGOs in the protection and rehabilitation of our environment. Education of the public on the need to take care of the environment will be undertaken in our schools and all sectors of our society. The proper collection, disposal and recycling of garbage will be actively pursued. Enforcement of the laws which are designed to care and protect the environment will be done and offenders punished whenever they are breached.
