OTHERS
There are several areas to which Ministerial Portfolio have been assigned at present which are not necessary and should be placed within a relevant ministry or monitored by a special group. These include Sports, Culture and Technology. Though these are an important part of our daily activities, there is no need for the weight of a full ministry
SPORTS
The development of sports would be best served by a Sport Council headed by persons with the knowledge, expertise and a supportive staff to plan and coordinate the sporting activities throughtout the island in associations with the various sporting bodies. A Sport Ministry is not needed to aid the organization or development of sport.
CULTURE
Jamaica has one of the most interesting and diverse culture in the world. Our culture is appreciated the world over and many perons travel far distances to experience it. It is very important for us to preserve it and pass it on to future generations. Like Sports, it should be guided by competent persons with the necessary skills and expertise who can enhance and preserve our culture while encouraging its appreciation by our young people.
TECHNOLOGY
The use of technology in our homes, schools, buisiness and society to improve the standard of life has increase substantially in recent times. Along with its successes, there have also been many cases of negative effects from this use of technology. The use of technology needs to be examined closely and monitored so as to maximise the positive effects while minimising its negative effects. Again, there is no need for a full ministry to manage the use of technology.
