Social Security provides a safety net for all Jamaicans especially the poor, elderly, dependents and survivors among others. Social security is extremely important and a JAP government will give special attention to expanding the services provided by the social security ministry so that deserving persons can be helped in the manner they need. Over the years some of the services that it provides have been scaled back and some of these functions have now been taken over by MPs and councilors and have been politicize thus preventing deserving persons from benefiting from these services. These services will be restored to the Ministry of Social Security where they can be carried out by civil servants. Ways will be looked at to get benefits to those who qualify in a much easier way. This is true of especially the elderly who are forced to travel long distances and wait for a long time to get their benefits.
