Persons frequently ask &#8220;How has thing gotten this&nbsp;way&#8221;? The answer is that often when persons break the law or rule,&nbsp;they&nbsp; often do not suffer any consequences for it. This has led from &nbsp;little&nbsp;infractions, to major and glaring disregards for the rule of law. This&nbsp;can be seen, for example, with the type of driving that we see&nbsp;happening daily on the street.&nbsp;The big question is &#8220;Now that we are here, how do we fix it?&#8221; &nbsp;There&nbsp;are often cries for tougher sanctions and penalties. This often only&nbsp;creates its own set of problems. Justice dictates that the penalty&nbsp;should fit the crime. As such the penalty should be fair and&nbsp;consistently applied to persons when they are in breach&nbsp;of the law.&nbsp;Once this is done persons will be less inclined to disregard the rule&nbsp;of law. It is of no use making laws where the persons responsible to&nbsp;carrying them out feel that they are unfair. We need to make fair laws and implement them. For example, it is of&nbsp;no use having a ticketing system with point, if drivers can incur&nbsp;tickets without paying the fines or having their drivers licence&nbsp;suspended or disqualified when they have received the stipulated&nbsp;number of points.<br>To curtail the indiscipline in our society there must be an&nbsp; educational initiative, communinity engagement, law enforcement and appropiate punishment. Persons should know the benefits of having a disciplined society&nbsp; and the likelihood that they will be caught and punished when they break the law.. Once this is done, our populace will&nbsp;become more law abiding and the rampant indiscipline will disappear.&nbsp; Persons are often heard to ask how&nbsp;when the same indiscipline person go abroad that they observe the&nbsp;law and behave differently? It is simply that if they don&#8217;t, they will&nbsp;have to face the consequences of their actions so they obey the laws.<br>The most successful families, teams, institutions and countries are&nbsp;the ones in which there is a high level of discipline. The opposite is&nbsp;also true. The least successful families, teams, institutions and&nbsp;countries are the ones in which there is a low level of discipline. For&nbsp;Jamaica to achieve its&#8217; goals of improving the standard of living and&nbsp;becoming a more prosperous country, discipline must be restored.&nbsp;Without this happening all our efforts to &#8220;Make Jamaica, the place of&nbsp;choice to live, work, raise families and do business\u201d will be futile.<br>A JAP government will make the restoration of discipline to our&nbsp;society one of its top priority.
