Of these, the Coral Garden Massacre and the Green Bay Killings readily come to mind. There are also some other questionable killings such as during the Tivoli Incursion, the Braeton Seven killings, and the Kraal Killings. There have also been many cases of individual abuses but they will not be detailed for privacy reasons. Many of these victims have died but they have close relative who would like to tell their story and have their name cleared. There are also many survivors who would like to tell their own story and receive an apology. In some instances the state should consider paying monetary compensation to the victims. Many persons are hurting deeply at the injustice which has been meted out to them by the state and its agents. Though many of them are deserving of monetary compensation, some would be satisfied with a public acknowledgement of the wrong and an apology.<\/p>\n<p>These are not only physical injury but include instances injustices as occured under FINSAC and the corrupt use of States of Emergency. JAP will seek to set up a commission where these grievances can be aired and investigated and the necessary action taken to come to a mutual understanding. It is necessary to rebuild trust between the state and citizens so that persons can work with the state to achieve the desirable objectives.&nbsp; At present this trust is very lacking and it poses a lot of problems in society. The courts also need to make more substantial awards to persons who have suffered injustices at the hand of the state. For example, the award of four million dollars to the family of a woman shot dead by the police and the same to a businessman who was removed from his bed and locked up for twenty day in a filthy cell, then released without any charge is shameful.<\/p>\n<p>JAP will seek to enable reconciliation and put in place measures to prevent any such occurances in the future.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RECONCILIATION Since Jamaica gained independence in 1962,&nbsp;there have been thousands of cases where the state has perpetrated grave abuses against various groups of persons as well as individuals.
